Assassin’s Creed III Benedict Arnold Missions Exclusive To PS3

We knew the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin’s Creed III would have exclusive content but now we know what that content is.

The PlayStation Blog has detailed the content exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin’s Creed III. It will revolve around the most well known traitor in American history, Benedict Arnold, and will consist of a four mission arc. As the Blog explains, “Benedict Arnold’s secret plot to betray West Point and sabotage the American Revolution earned him the ultimate mark of infamy: a name that will forevermore be synonymous with deceit and treachery.” And the four mission arc surrounding him, exclusive to PS3, deals with this “most reviled turncoat.”

The missions will begin “with a special request from George Washington” and will focus on the plot at West Point Benedict Arnold was so heavily involved in. “Across four missions, (Assassin’s Creed III protagonist) Connor will flush out Loyalist spies and work undercover for Benedict Arnold, culminating in a full-blown assault on West Point that Connor must halt at all costs.”

Assassin’s Creed III scriptwriter Matt Turner has promised this story arc to be more realistic than the alternate history DLC, The Tyranny of King Washington, and will included actual dialogue said to have been spoken by Benedict Arnold himself and those around him. Turner didn’t give away many details about the actual nature of the exclusive content but he did mention that Conner will be fighting a variety of enemies from both sides of the conflict.

I’ve always enjoyed the various ways Assassin’s Creed weaves various historical figures and events into its own mythology without it feeling out of place or forced. Perhaps you feel differently? Or maybe you are excited by this news? Does this make the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin’s Creed III the one to get? The comment section below wants your opinion.

Hey! I'm Esteban, my gamer handle is Colorwind, and I'm a video game blogger. As such, here's some gamer facts about me. The first game I ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The first console I ever owned was the NES. My favorite genre of games are action adventure games with fighting games being a close second. My favorite console is the Sony PlayStation. I currently own a Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, N64, Genesis and NES. My favorite console this generation is the Xbox 360. My favorite Mortal Kombat character is Scorpion with Ermac, Baraka, and Mileena being close runner-ups. I LOVE SNK fighters like Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting 3 and Garou: Mark of the Wolves. My favorite Street Fighter title is Street Fighter Alpha 3 with Street Fighter III: Third Strike being a close second. The most obvious thing in the world is that Sonic is my favorite video game character.
