The Last of Us is going to be Naughty Dog’s new post-apocolyptic game coming out for the PlayStation 3 and it looks amazing with it’s very real combat, graphics and overall feel. All that’s pretty much been released about the game is something BIG happened to what looks like New York City or something and you are a dad-like protagonist that watches over a little girl from murderous survivors and a hostile environment. This game has some of the most evolutionary combat ever to be put in to a video game, with adaptable environments, pre-fight actions, and enemies that respond to every action that you take in the game.

As you and the girl that you are escorting explore the city for supplies, answers, and a way out of the city, you get confronted by packs of blood-hungry scavengers that want nothing more than to kill you and take the supplies you have worked so hard to obtain. The Last of Us does a BEAUTIFUL job with the engagement process as the E3 gameplay showed the characters react realistically to the sound of voices and immediately duck down and hide. As you creep your way away from the gangsters, you can look around, lean up against the objects you come up to, and observe how the men act as they would in real life with little ammunition and crazed minds. You can even, if you think far enough ahead, use supplies in your back to make booby traps for the enemies and use FEAR as a weapon to take the down the rest. Naughty Dog even went as far as enemies yelling “Damn, it!” if you grab their gun and they pull the trigger and shoot the gun as you fight for it. In short, the game is more real than any other I have ever seen and those with a PlayStation better be happy it’s only for you and cherish that game as it should be cherished.

Keep up the good work Naughty Dog and crank out some titles that follow suit with The Last of Us  as you can lead the way for the rest of developers to see how video game characters should and would act if they are trying to make a “good” game.
