As part of Sega’s internal restructuring, the publisher has been announcing the re-releases of several of its iconic titles. Earlier this year, along with Jet Set Radio, Sega announced that both Sega Saturn cult classic NiGHTS into Dreams… and Dreamcast favorite Sonic Adventure 2 would be seeing a Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network release and would receive a HD upgrade. However, Sega has yet to unveil both the release date and pricing for both titles. Bright and early today, Sega changed that and fans will be able to get their hands on both games early next month.

On the PlayStation Network, NiGHTS into Dreams… and Sonic Adventure 2 will both be released on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 and will retail for $9.99. 360 owners will get the games on the Xbox Live Arcade service later that week on Friday, October 5, 2012 for 800 Microsoft Points or $10 in human American money. Sega also announced some extra content that will be available on day one.

NiGHTS into Dreams… will also include the extra content released on the 1996 holiday-themed expansion, Christmas NiGHTS. The expansion consists of two extra levels based on a Christmas themed version of Spring Valley, the first level for the Claire character. This content was previously only included in a Saturn holiday bundle or through special promotions.

Sonic Adventure 2 will have the option to purchase the Battle Mode DLC, which includes the extra content that was created for the Gamecube port of Sonic Adventure 2, entitled Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The content will cost $3.00 / 240 Microsoft Points and includes additional maps and characters, as well as extra modes such as Chao Karate.

Are you excited for these re-releases, GP peeps? I personally am. As a big fan of both Sonic and the original NiGHTS game on the Saturn, I know I’ll be getting these games. Comment below and let me know which one of you will be as well.

Hello. I'm Esteban Sky Cuevas aka Colorwind and I'm the managing editor for Gaming Precision. I've been gaming ever since I was six years old when I played Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at someone's house and then begged for a video game console. That console was a NES but I quickly moved on to a SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Atari 2600, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, PS2, Saturn, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and 3DS. I like all genres of video games but I'm partial to Platform titles, Action Adventure games, and fighters. I love old SNK fighters like Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury, and my favorite video game character is Sonic the Hedgehog. My top five consoles are in reverse order the Xbox 360, SNES, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis and Sony PlayStation, although I often talk about how the Sega Saturn deserves more attention than it got. Check out my Twitter and Tumblr if you would like to follow me.
