Original Wii Still Going to be Sold Alongside Wii U
Even with the impending release of the Nintendo Wii U in November, Nintendo has announced that they will still be supporting and selling the original Wii console side by side along with the Wii U, confirmed today by Nintendo of America’s president, Reggie Fils-Aime. With Nintendo selling well over 40 million consoles in the United States alone, they believe that with they can still be able to sell the Nintendo Wii to other countries who have yet to have the system available.
Currently, the Wii is not available in Latin America, or some parts of Eastern Europe. That being said, Nintendo believes that with an attractive price paired with the system, that consumers will be willing to buy in these regions.
The Wii dropped in price to $149.99 in May of 2011. And with the release of the Wii U, we may be seeing an even further drop in price in the near future.
