GameStop CEO Paul Raines Predicts Arrival of Xbox 720 or PS4

GameStop CEO Paul Raines has predicted that we will be seeing the release of either the new Xbox, or the new Playstation in 2013, not both. According to Raines, Wii U is expected to hit the shelves this holiday season, followed by one system in 2013, and the other in 2014.

Details on Microsoft’s next console were allegedly leaked in June, in the form of a 56-page document. The document described the Xbox 720, set to release in 2013 in a bundle with a new version of Kinect and other features. Sony has stated that they do not plan on announcing the release of the Playstation 4 until after Microsoft makes their move.

Raines assertions are based on industry rumor, with which not all analysts agree. Some expect both systems to be released in the latter half of 2013. Until then, keep an eye out for more news on the upcoming systems.
