A Look Back At Deus Ex: Human Revolution and its Expansions
Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been out for quite some time now but looking back, I’d have to say that it was one game worth remembering and recognizing as a very good game. The story is that the setting is in the future and humans have been augmented to be contracted in to contracted killers. The game was one of the first that really allowed freedom of choice and implemented in to the game. Square Enix has always been amazing game developer but this really kicked off them being a prodigious developer that others are following to this day.
The game was very successful and put you in the role of a special killer who has been betrayed and is using his augmentations to get even. I don’t want to spoil the game for those that do still plan on giving this masterpiece a try but the expansions are open for free game and they go perfectly with the game and only add more. The first expansion is nothing huge, but it allows you to blast enemies away with a double-barreled shotgun, a silenced sniper rifle and ten thousand dollars in credits. Not too much with that one, but the Explosive Mission Pack adds a grenade launcher, a remote detonated explosion device, and an automatic unlocking device for the hidden treasures. Not only is there an arsenal of weapons and devices given to the player but there is a mission as well.
The last expansion is sort of a side story that adds a twist of not having your augmented parts at all so you are a normal man in a world that is going to chew you up and spit you out and it is interesting to say the least working against this huge disadvantage. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best games Square Enix has ever made and they are trying to top it with every title and they’re getting close, but nothing has quite yet dominated over the award winning game.

I played Deus Ex awhile back and as someone who had no previous exposure to the series, I really enjoyed it. I love games that give players an assortment of options. Deus Ex granted players the ability to approach the game how they want whether it’s going guns-a-blazing or sticking to the shadows with stealth. The customization options were very developed and unique and best of all for me was the game mechanics that combined FPS, third person cover system, and even sidequests. This is definitely on my list of “must replay games”
