Sleeping Dogs Demo Represents Game Well
Sleeping Dogs, an open world, undercover cop drama had two sides to the game when it was being waited on for release. There was the side that thought this game was going to be a poor version of a copied Grand Theft Auto that would be a waste of money and there was the side that thought this game was going to revolutionize open world gameplay. Being honest, I believed this game was not going to be that great because the media that was being released for the game did not do it justice in the slightest. The demo for Sleeping Dogs was recently released for the Xbox 360 dashboard and the demo EASILY made me want to but the game.
It looks as though the demo introduced curious players to the game in the middle of the story, as the main character (Wei) is speaking to a high member of the Triads. The Triads are the gang that the undercover cop is infiltrating to get close to them for a big lead throughout the story. There are subtle hints that suggest the theme and idea of the game and it looks like throughout the game, the player will be able to make decisions that will provide “influence points” making him more of a triad versus being a noble police officer. My guess is that in the game, if you pick one decision enough over the other, then you will maybe get a promotion as a cop or become a decorated member of one of the biggest gangs in Hong Kong.
One thing is for sure, I will know what these points and decisions are for soon because the demo definitely made me want to buy the game. The combat was flawless and the short sectional story displayed in the Sleeping Dogs demo, was beautifully done and the game looks like it’s definitely worth buying.
