Resident Evil May Not Be the Same

Resident Evil is one of the most classic games all of all time, but as of late they just don’t feel the same as they used to. When a gamer would play the original Resident Evil years ago, six bullets in the chamber and a hallway full of zombies they would get the feeling of pure terror. Back then a lot of people would even complain that the game was too scary and they almost couldn’t enjoy it, but looking back those same people are asking what has happened to the game and why is it just not scary anymore?

The idea in the new games is to combine stories of all the protagonists over the years and to put the player in the heat of the action. That is completely understandable but the fact that a “survivor” can carry an arsenal with them and blow up fifty zombies with an RPG just makes the game feel like another “shoot-em-up.” Nobody is saying that Resident Evil 6 looks bad or that they are not going to buy it, but the game would be that much better if they could incorporate that old, scary feeling with today’s graphics and storyline.

There’s nothing else that Capcom has really missed and the games have won so many awards that there is nobody that can really say these games are inadequate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it’s so easy to see how much the games have changed if you compare the previews of Resident Evil 6 to the original. Developers need to remember that the entire idea of this game was to make a player feel like they are one scratch, bite or trip away from death in an infected world. Maybe one day these games will get the old feel back, but until then, at least we can have fun murdering armies of zombies.
