God of War Ascension Preview
God of War Ascension is going to be the prequel to one of the greatest games of all time. The God of War games follow a soldier in mythology named Kratos, who was manipulated in to killing his wife and child by Ares, the God of War. At this point in the story that gamers love, Kratos is still enslaved to Ares for saving his life when Kratos called out to the heavens to save his life in exchange for his service. Ares saved Kratos by giving him the “blades of chaos” which Kratos used to dominate the rest of his foes on the battlefield. The story of these games is going to be remembered for quite some time, and Sony Santa Monica had the brilliant idea of this prequel to explain the chaos introduced in the original game years ago.
Following a pattern of strong campaign with clear, understandable stories, Sony Santa Monica has come up with the idea for Kratos to hunt down the mythological Furies. The Furies are a group of harpies that punish anyone that swears an oath and chooses not to fulfill it. As most of the gamers that know Kratos already can expect, he’s not going to the Furies to talk and see if they can work something out at all. No, Kratos is going to hunt and kill the Furies so he can break his oath to Ares.
God of War Ascension may show the origin of the current “god killer”, but it also shows a side of legendary combat that most have not seen yet. While owning the battlefield with the blades of chaos has been a blast so far, the developers are giving Kratos the ability to pick up weapons in all situations he comes across and completely diversify his fighting style from enemy to enemy. These are just some of the amazing features coming in God of War Ascension. It’s set to release in spring of 2013 and players can’t wait to see what formed one of the greatest rivalries of all time.
