Mass Effect 3 From Ashes DLC: Not Worth the Purchase
For those interested in expanding the already vast universe that is Mass Effect 3, Bioware has released DLC pack called “From Ashes” that might just tickle your fancy (if you’re okay with spending $10 for an hour of additional gameplay). Upon downloading the content, a new private message will be received from the Normandy’s terminal. Warning the information below might include minor spoilers.
From Ashes allows players to revisit Eden Prime, the location of the first mission in ME1 and a prominent locale within the series’ narrative. The pro-human fanatics, Cerberus have found something of great significance on the planet, not a relic or piece of Prothean technology, but a real, living Prothean.
The core of the mission revolves around accessing data sites that allow you to open the alien space pod while defending it from waves of Cerberus minions. The entirely of the mission is about an hour, probably less if you are on a high level. Two achievements are available during this DLC including “Freedom Fighter” which requires players to collect three pieces of intel on Eden Prime, and “Prothean Expert” which can be unlocked by accessing the dialogue options with your new Prothean squad mate.
For serious fans of the franchise, the DLC provides backstory to the Protheans, including some insights to their civilization and the state of the galaxy 50,000 years ago. If you’re looking for more than a few sentences in description you will be sadly disappointed. The new addition to the Normandy is a real jerk by the way. Named Javik, the Prothean was a soldier in his time and joins Shepard’s cause with many preconceived notions aimed at the “multiracial” crew.
Overall this download is in no way necessary to fully enjoy Mass Effect 3. On one hand players will gain a better glimpse into the Prothean people, on the other, for a price of $10, the DLC doesn’t offer very much.

I could not agree with you more. Such a waste of money. I bought the DLC after I beat the game too so there were no more missions left. I wonder how many other lame DLC packs Bioware is going to put out.
