Find the nearest streetlamp and charge up your flashlights, because the darkness is here. Remedy Entertainment has announced the release of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, a stand-alone title available on the Xbox LIVE Arcade for 1200 points. The game features a thrilling adventure story and a new “Fight till Dawn” survival mode.

Contrary to the typical Xbox LIVE Arcade game, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is a fully fleshed out title that combines a fast-paced action arcade mode with a lengthier single-player campaign. In the story mode, players find themselves in Night Springs, a twisted nightmare of a town that the darkest of horrors call home. A serial killer by the name of Mr. Scratch is the bane of Wake’s existence in this tale. Targeting Wake and his wife, Alice, the murderer must be stopped. With his flashlight and arsenal of various other weapons, the player will work to discover the truth behind Night Springs, and to beat Mr. Scratch at his own game.

For a change of pace, the new “Fight till Dawn” mode will throw players into the dead of night. They must survive until daybreak, taking on an onslaught of new enemies. Familiar tools like the flare gun, as well as the newly available nail gun and Uzi are at the players’ disposal. Safe havens and unlockable goodies are strewn across the deadly landscape, aiding players in their horrific plight. Scores earned by the players will be recorded on the online leaderboards, allowing them to compare and compete.

Whether you survived the original Alan Wake, or are a newcomer to the series, American Nightmare is a thrilling adventure that you should not miss.

Even though Alan Wake’s American Nightmare looks cool, I just want a sequel already!
