Game of the Year Awards

2011 was a groundbreaking year for video games. Some broke world records, while others rocked our world. Let’s celebrate this past year and its success and hope for and even better selection of games in 2012. Here are the picks for our Video Game of the Year Awards. (Each category winner was voted upon and chosen by the Gaming Precision staff)

Best PS3 Game

Platform(s): Playstation 3

Developer: Naughty Dog

Genre: Action-adventure

Uncharted 3 has been revered and reviled, lionized and demonized. It is, for some, the pinnacle of execution, most engrossing gaming experience ever, or to quote one underrated critic, a “wowbox of awesome”. For others, it was ‘too linear’. To these people I ask, is it wrong for a game-maker to guide the action and story when their motive is to tell a story well and include totally mind-puttifying action? Drake’s Deception is a story-driven action game. Anyone who’s played it through knows that in their heart-of-hearts they’ve not seen better. I don’t need the freedom of Skyrim, I’ve got Skyrim for that.

Cool list. I like how you guys didn’t just choose all the popular games. Pushmo and To the Moon were fantastic. Happy to see them in your picks.
